Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come; The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17
This past Sunday our Sunday School lesson for children was about Jesus talking to Peter after the resurrection. The take away for the children was that Jesus believes in us. We discussed that Peter had proclaimed complete loyalty during the Last Supper but then he soon let Jesus down; both in the garden and during the trial. We reflected on how often we let Jesus down and how hard it is to “hit the target” in following in Jesus’ footsteps.
The second half of the lesson turned to discussing how often Jesus helps us move past our mistakes and believes that we all (no matter our age) can do big things for Jesus because Jesus believes in us!
What a powerful lesson moving into the season of Advent!
Each Sunday night 32 children are preparing to share the Good News of Jesus as they learn and practice this year’s Christmas Musical. We discuss how this play will help others believe that Jesus came to be the light of the world. They are preparing their own hearts for the season ahead. This past Sunday the children shared what they thought it meant to be made “new” in Christ. They are learning that believing that Jesus believes in them they are able to love God, love others and share the message of Good News of Great Joy for all the people.
How are you being made new this season of Advent?
Believe that Jesus believes in you!
